Books filled up with English lore,
About simile and metaphor.
The first of these was simile.
Formed with like or as, simply.
Did not take long to all agree
That comparisons were quite easy!
But English is filled with rules galore,
And with similes there was something more.
You must remove like or as before
You find yourself with a metaphor.
This made things hard to a degree,
But we all caught on quite hastily.
Yet it's still hard because as we see:
A metaphor is a simile.
